On November 22 the NA President and the members of delegation led by him visited the Saint Nerses Shnorhali (the Gracious) church of Montevideo, where the Prelate of the Uruguay Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Hakob Glnjian welcomed the Armenian parliamentarians. The Armenian deputies had been to Nersisian Educational Institution, met with the representatives of the Uruguayan Armenian community.   Hovik Abrahamyan has noted that Uruguay is the country, where not only Armenians by their origin live, but also Armenians by their heart, in the name of friendly and warm-hearted Uruguayan people. “I am sure that I am in a brotherly country, where also due to my compatriots warm atmosphere is created for the parliamentarians, who arrived from Armenia. The sources of that atmosphere come from far away, particularly, from the times, when the authorities of the country and the Uruguayans have accepted the Armenians as their brothers and sisters, and that friendship goes on till now,” the NA President said. He once again thanked the authorities of Uruguay for being the first in the world officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide and condemning it. “The fact that the Uruguayan leadership being honest-minded is the building of the special museum in the Capital Montevideo Ahead of the 100^th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide,” the NA President said. He thanked the representatives of the Armenian community for keeping the name and the honour of the Armenian people high in the friendly country, far from Armenia by territory, for the efforts of approaching closer Armenia and Uruguay, for the activities of preserving Armenian identity and remaining Armenian. He called upon them to preserve the Armenian identity and the national conscience, traditions, language and culture. “In the name of you we have reliable stronghold and a firm bridge between the two states and peoples,” Hovik Abrahamyan said. The NA President and the members of the delegation laid flowers at the monument perpetuating the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.
